About Us

This is an informal, Whatcom County based social group intended for enthusiasts of rocks, minerals, and lapidary. No BS, just rocks!

Discover the Magic of Rockhounding

The cost of membership

When this group started in January, we were funding our club with your generous donations. Effective July 1, 2026, a basic membership costs $20/individual or $40/famly. Please visit the "Membership" page for more details about fees and bundled "swag" packages.

Classes are in session Thursday - Saturday at Trevor's Magic Rocks LLC.

We offer jewelry and lapidary classes Thursday - Saturday. Find out more and reserve a spot in one of our many lapidary courses on the "Classes" page.

Group Guidelines:

  1. Be respectful toward each other.
  2. "Golden rule;" treat others how we want to be treated.
  3. All identities are welcome here.
  4. Don't be afraid to ask questions. (There are no stupid questions.)
  5. Above all - have fun.

Field Trips

We had our first impromptu field trip of the year on Friday, January 9th. Five individuals carpooled to Baker Lake at Mt. Baker, WA near Swift Creek to hunt for blue agates and jasper. We've also visited other club's gem shows, and did a dig at Walker Valley in Big Lake, WA. We recently carpooled to the Everett Rock and Gem Club's show in Monroe, WA. We did a June field trip which was a rock drop on Saturday, June 13th. Most recently, on Saturday, July 18th, we did some beach combing on a beach at Whidbey Island, WA. There was also a rock hound sale in Marysville on Friday, August 7th.

Our next field trip is: TBD

Next Event: Summer picnic, Saturday, September 5th

Plans for the future

Equipment has been moved to the new studio at 1302 12th St. Bellingham, WA. Our meetings are currently  held upstairs at this location.

Our next step is to focus on membership growth and consistency with meeting attendance. Everyone who has participated so far has contributed to the success of this new adventure; thank you to all of the Rock Lickers for making this club what it is:

This is an informal group of like-minded individuals who love and want to learn more about rocks.

Get in on the ground floor of a new endeavor, and let's continue building something great together!
